RICKEY'S OBITUARY

Mr. Rickey Thomas "Rick" Branstetter, Sr., age 68, of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on August 14, 1952 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late Rev. Albert and Mary Jeffries Branstetter. His family moved to Jefferson County when he was young and he was a member of the Class of 1971 at Madison Consolidated High School. He later received his tech degree in auto body at Ivy Tech Community College. He was inducted into the United States Army on March 7, 1972 at Louisville, Kentucky. He rose to the rate of Specialist Four and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War until June 1974. He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1974 from Fort Knox, Kentucky receiving the National Defense Service Medal. On July 30, 1970, he was united in marriage to Christina Ann Galbreath in Madison, Indiana. This happy union of 50 years was blessed with a son, Rickey, Jr., and two daughters, Erika and Tina. He worked early in life for Jim Shake in the river salvage business, at Kawneer in Carrollton and with Paul Kemp in construction. He then began a career in the glass business, working 10 years at Glass Unlimited and 25 years in his own business, Rick's Glass Company in Carrollton, Kentucky. He attended the Open Door Baptist Church in Deputy. He held memberships in the American Legion and VFW posts. He was a beloved husband, loving daddy and papa. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events at Southwestern schools and for the past 22 years loved camping at Deer Creek Camp Grounds. He was a very competitive man and played corn hole, horse shoes, ping pong, pool, and pin ball. He loved bowling and proudly achieved a perfect 300 in 1985. He also went ginseng hunting, fishing, and hunting in general. He was a fantastic carpenter and could build anything, especially furniture. Taking his wife out on his Honda Gold Wing was a highlight with their dog Bear riding along. Rick was a well respected man in his community and family. He also enjoyed his dog Willie. Rickey died on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 1:45 p.m. at his home in Hanover, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY
Rickey will be missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Christina Ann Galbreath Branstetter of Hanover, Indiana; his loving daughters, Erika Branstetter and her husband, Kristian Bezeau of Monroe, Michigan, Tina Hardy and her husband, Michael of Lexington, Indiana; his adoring grandchildren, Michael Thomas Layton, Andrew Brady Branstetter, Syrenia Ti Hardy, and Shane Michael Hardy; his brother, Kenneth Branstetter and his wife, Nancy of Madison, Indiana; his sisters, Linda Gayle Hortenbery of Madison, Indiana, Sheila Marie Sargent of Madison, Indiana, Patricia Adams and her husband, Raymond of Milton, Kentucky; his brothers in law and sisters in law, Gary Galbreath of Hanover, Indiana, David Galbreath of San Antonio, Texas, Phyllis Cole of Greensburg, Indiana, Libby Myrick Foelker and her husband, David of Deland, Florida; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Albert Branstetter, died December 28, 1998, his mother, Mary Jeffries Branstetter, died June 20, 1977, his beloved son, Rickey T. Branstetter, Jr. died September 19, 1978, his brother and sister in law, James A. Branstetter, died February 22, 2002 and his wife, Jean, died June 1, 2017, his father in law and mother in law, Hubert and Mary Galbreath, and his brother in law, Billy Sargent, died September 8, 2019.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Chuck Justice at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.

VISITATION
Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.

MIITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre and at the graveside at Fairmount Cemetery.
