KATHERYN'S OBITUARY

       
Katheryn Ann "Kathey" Distel Freeman, age 68, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on February 13, 1953 in Madison, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late George Edward "Bill" and Selma Kathryn Turner Distel. She was a 1971 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School where she maintained many high school friends. Kathey was united in marriage to Thomas Freeman on March 6, 1975. This union was blessed with a son, Gabriel and a daughter, Kelly. She worked as an executive administrative assistant at American Commercial Barge Lines in Jeffersonville, Indiana for 14 years. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and would serve wherever needed. She enjoyed photography and spending time with her family. For the past 10 plus years, Kathey enjoyed the companionship of her partner Steven Lewis. She was a devoted mom, loving grandma, sister, aunt and friend. Kathey fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 11:10 a.m. at the Hanover Health & Rehab Center in Hanover, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY
Kathey will be missed by her loving daughter, Kelly Walz and her husband, Chuck of Brandenburg, Kentucky; her loving son, Gabriel Freeman and his wife Beth of Louisville, Kentucky; her companion and travel partner, Steven Lewis; her beloved brothers, George Distel and his wife Eva of Madison, Indiana, Gregory Distel and his wife Missy of Hanover, Indiana; her loving sister, Mary Elizabeth Distel of Madison, Indiana; her adoring grandchildren, Andrew Davis and his fiancé, Hannah Garrett, Madeline Freeman, Claire Freeman, and Amelia Freeman; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, George Edward "Bill" Distel, died June 7, 1988, her mother, Selma Kathryn Turner Distel, died August 22, 1994, and her sister, Cecilia Teresa Distel Knuckles, died January 13, 1998.

THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL
Funeral mass will be conducted Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., by Father Christopher A. Craig at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 413 East Second Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Private interment will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.

VISITATION
Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 am until 10:30 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.

THE ROSARY
The Rosary will be prayed on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
