Mr. Steven Lee "Steve" Burkhardt, age 58, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on November 3, 1952 in Waco, Texas. He was the loving son of Louis G. Jr. & Orena Belle Hamilton Burkhardt. He resided most of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1971 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He received his associate degree as a drafting engineer with ITT in Indianapolis. This is where he met the love of his life, Margery L. Thistlethwaite and they were united in marriage on December 15, 1973 at the Big Springs Church in Boone County, Indiana. Steve was employed as a welder for 27 years with Rotary Lift in Madison. He was employed at last for 3 1/2 years as a machine operator at Madison Precision until he became disabled. In his spare time he enjoyed helping area farmers with hay and tobacco. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, and watching his neighbor race his midget cars. He was a member of the North Madison Christian Church. Until his health deterioriated, he enjoyed being a firefighter with Fair Play Fire Company No. 1, Madison Township Fire Department and Ryker's Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed participating as an engineer. Steve died Monday, October 3, 2011 at 3:12 a.m. at his home in Madison, Indiana.

Thistlethwaite Burkhardt of Madison, Indiana; his loving mother: Orena Belle Hamilton Burkhardt of Madison, Indiana; his aunts & uncles: Winnie Smith and her husband, Darrell of Madison, Indiana; Nolan Hamilton and his wife, Shirley of Milton, Kentucky, Forman Hamilton of Milton, Kentucky; LaVern Gross of Madison, Indiana; his brothers in law & sisters in law: Cy Thistlethwaite and his wife, Kathy of Westfield, Indiana, Mike Thistlethwaite and his wife, Connie of Cicero, Indiana, Pat Maddox and her husband, Tim of Lebanon, Indiana; nieces and nephews: A.J., Helen, Chris and Bryan; several cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis G. Burkhardt, Jr.; his grandparents; and his father in law & mother in law, Earl & Shirley Thistlethwaite.
